Module Overview
This course allows delegates to learn the process of writing texts and reports required in business. It is intended to promote clear, unambiguous communication in plain language and to improve the quality of written reports and other texts that are specific to a business environment, which require a particular format and may include specified legislated requirements. The course enables participants to recognise and effectively use textual conventions and features specific to business texts. Delegates credited with completing this programme are able to read and view a variety of text types with a developed understanding of these texts and to justify their views and responses by reference to detailed evidence from texts. They are also able to evaluate the effectiveness of different texts for different audiences and purposes by using a set of valid criteria for analysis.
The course also equips candidates with the skills to produce professional business correspondence and prepare effective presentations. The course enables participants to communicate effectively; develop sentences and paragraphs that are structured, concise and logical; develop coherent arguments; structure and write professional letters, memos, faxes, emails, reports and plans.

- Relate the purpose, content, form, frequency and recipients of a range of reports.
- Identify information sources & organizational procedures for obtaining & distributing information.
- Compile reports related to a selected business function.
- Laiase with relevant parties and verify that reported information is in accordance with requirements
- Demonstrate an understanding of the agenda of meetings
- Explain the purpose and objective of minutes of meetings
- Take minutes of meetings
Duration
3 days contact time including facilitation and group activities
30 days self study after which participants are to submit their portfolio of evidence.

- A Certificate of Competence will be awarded to all delegates who successfully submit and are found competent on their Portfolio of Evidence (PoEs).
- A Regenesys Certificate of Attendance will be awarded to all delegates who, after attending the three days of training, do not submit their PoEs within the specified timeframe.

It is recommended that learners have the following pre-knowledge and/or proof of competence before enrolling in this course:
- Communication NQF level 3
- Mathematical literacy NQF level 3
