Assessor Training

Programme Overview

This course is designed for lecturers, facilitators, assessors and tutors. The broad aim is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to conduct   outcomes-based assessments in their fields of expertise.   Most importantly this course will contribute towards the   achievement of a variety of qualifications within the fields   of Education and Training and Human Resource   Development. Delegates completing this course will be   able to prepare and conduct assessments, provide   meaningful   developmental feedback and participate   constructively in the review of assessment process.

Learning Outcomes

  • Demonstrate an understanding of outcomes-based assessment versus other forms of assessment
  • Explain the purpose, process and related benefits and challenges of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
  • Prepare for assessment (resources, logistics, documentation and environment) ensuring fairness and safety
  • Conduct the assessment in conjunction with respective parties (moderators, safety personnel etc.)
  • Recognise the special needs of learners
  • Gather evidence to enable valid, consistent and reliable assessment
  • Provide feedback on the assessment to the learner in accordance with confidentiality requirements
  • Ensure that feedback is constructive, culturally sensitive and sufficient to enable parties to make further decisions
  • Record assessment in line with the requirements of the organisation is quality assurance system
  • Review the assessment process

Duration

  • 2  days contact time including facilitation and  group activities.

Accreditation

A certificate of competence will be awarded upon successful completion of a portfolio of evidence
