Ms Yoliswa Makhasi

Ms Yoliswa Makhasi, CEO, Film & Publication Board, is a speaker in the Regenesys Leadership Conversations Seminar Series.

Yoliswa Makhasi is an enthusiastic self motivated activist currently serving as the Chief Executive of the Film and Publication Board, with key competencies in Strategic and Business Planning, Project Management, Stakeholder Relations, Event management, and Employee Communications. She has worked in different roles within the public service from operations, management and political/ strategic levels.

She has been involved in various organisations of young people and community structures both as a member and at different leadership levels. She has been involved in conceptualizing and ensuring implementation of the country’s youth policy and other key programmatic interventions such as National Youth Service Program aimed at promoting patriotism and volunteerism amongst young people.

Born in 1975 in Port Elizabeth, KwaZakhele Township in the Eastern Cape, she went to Cowan High School where she played netball. She then went on to study at Vista University, where her love for youth involvement grew. Her academic background and interest is on public policy, advocacy, service delivery improvement and governance issues in the public service and the development sector broadly. She is a qualified policy specialist with a BA Degree (Vista University, Port Elizabeth); Masters Degree in Public Policy and Management ( University of Manchester, United Kingdom).

Currently, she is further empowering herself with a Certificate Course in Program and Project Management at Wits University. Yoliswa is passionate about youth development and as CEO of the Film and Publication Board she feels that the organization does contribute positively towards youth and protecting children. Being a mother herself, to 2 and half year old Kumnandi (boy) she enjoys spending time at home with her son, when she’s not entertaining friends.

The Regenesys Leadership Conversations is a conversation between leaders in civil society and individuals seeking to learn about leadership. Seminars focus on catalysing conversation between top business and governmental leaders, interested members of the public and academic communities.
